Service Area Competition announcements are funding opportunities for public and private nonprofit community-based and patient-directed organizations that provide primary health care services to the Nation’s medically underserved. Tribal, faith-based organizations are also eligible to apply. Funding awards are to ensure continued access to affordable, quality primary health care services for communities and vulnerable populations currently served by the Health Center Program. Applicants are welcomed from new organizations who are not currently receiving Health Center Funding as well organizations currently funded through the Health Center Program. The eligibility criterion for service area by zip code in SAAT (https://bphc.hrsa.gov/sac/) must total at least 75 percent and new sites must be open and operational within 120 days of receipt of the Notice of Award (NoA). Only city and states with service areas announced on SAAT will be available for selection and review. Specific requirements for applicants as Community Health Center (CHC), Migrant Health Center (MHC), Health Care for the Homeless (HCH), and Public Housing Primary Care are listed in the announcement. The project period may be awarded up to 3 years. Knowledge of Health People 2020/Health Center Program Measures is strongly encouraged.
