SAE & Associates attended several of the Behavioral Health Medicaid Managed Care Kick-Off Forum held over the past few months, at which representatives from City and State government (DOHMH, DOH, OASAS, and OMH) and the Managed Care Technical Assistance Center (MCTAC) spoke about the planned roll-out of managed care across the state. A link to our full notes and the powerpoint presentation can be found below, but a few key takeaways for providers include:
- The transition of behavioral health services into Medicaid Managed Care has been delayed to April 1st, 2015 for adults in NYC and to October 1st, 2015 for adults in the rest of NYS.
- Attendees were advised that Regional Planning Consortia are being formed to bring some standardization to data analysis and process. Providers will be asked to share input about what the planning opportunities and resources should look like.
- A history of the Medicaid Redesign Team’s process and recommendations was shared, the three year health home roll-out was discussed, and DSRIP was mentioned as a framework for promoting the key priorities related to system transformation.
- An overview of the present Medicaid managed care system was provided, followed by an overview of the transitional steps toward managed behavioral health care and the technical assistance available from the Managed Care Technical Assistance Center (MCTAC).
