Notice to All Federal Program Applicants: Remember to Update SAM Registration!

With the start of this new year comes ample new federal grant opportunities for health and human service organizations to engage in a variety of new programs and services for their clients. Already, federal agencies like the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have released FY2014 Requests for Proposals (RFPs), with some deadlines coming as early as mid-February. SAE would like to take this opportunity to remind all current and potential federal applicants to check their registration with the System for Award Management (SAM), and to update it as indicated. Current registration is required for every application upload that you do to grants.gov, and SAM numbers expire every year

Items that you should stay on top of related to SAM registration include:

  • When does the account expire?

  • Who is the eBiz POC, authorized to submit applications on behalf of your organization? Is this person still with the agency?

  • Does anything (e.g., address, staffing changes, etc.) need to be updated?

Taking the time to keep your SAM registration up to date prior to beginning a grant writing project can save you a lot of stress when working within very tight application development timeframes.
