Preventive Pediatric Care Clinical Advisory Group Releases Final Report

The New York State Department of Health just released the final report of the Preventive Pediatric Care Clinical Advisory Group (CAG), a team of experts in children’s healthcare formed under New York State’s First 1000 Days on Medicaid Initiative.

The First 1000 Days on Medicaid Initiative is a collaborative effort that recognizes that the first three years of a child’s life can have a lasting impact on future health, educational achievement, and economic stability.  The report, which is one of ten proposals included in the Initiative, envisions a comprehensive pediatric healthcare model that integrates behavioral health into children’s primary care and recommends a two-generational approach to care, focusing on both the biomedical and social-emotional elements that affect early development and are essential to achieving health equity.
